The image of the constitution in the form of tablets appeared
already during the period of adoption of the first written constitutional acts. It was designed to evoke associations with high spiritual religious values, emphasize the significance of constitutions and set the viewer on a similar attitude to the constitution. In cartoons, the tables of the constitution emphasized the dissonance between high values and contrasting behavior of political figures. These traditions are preserved in contemporary works of fine art.
