In the article the pilgrimage route El Camino de Santiago is analised as a socio-cultural phenomenon of Spain. Attention is paid to the history of the path, the spiritual component of this phenomenon and its impact on the life of modern man. The author makes conclusions about the role of Camino de Santiago in the socio-economic development of the Northern part of Spain, as well as in the preservation of its historical and cultural potential. The influence of the spiritual phenomenon on the socio-economic and cultural development of the country is analyzed.
