Review Procedure and Peer-reviewing

Articles submitted for publication in Herald of Culturology undergo mandatory peer review. The editorial team decides to accept or reject the publication of book and article reviews, reports on scholarly events.

The review procedure is anonymous both for reviewer and for the authors.

1. All incoming articles undergo a preliminary examination and checking in the Antiplagiat system. In the case of the revealed plagiarism, the article is declined.

The articles without annotation, keywords, information about the author, and articles with wrong reference lists and other violations are sent back to the authors for improvement or are rejected.

2. The manuscripts are passed on for review to an expert who has scholarly specialization on the article's subject similar to the one developed by the author of the manuscript and who has published on this subject within the last three years.

The expert can be a member of the editorial board or an external reviewer. The reviewer can be neither an immediate administrative superior nor an academic supervisor of the article's author.

The journal shall send copies of the reviews to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation upon request.

Expert evaluation is carried out on the basis of a single-blind peer review system. The Managing Editor determines the time frame for peer-reviewing in each particular case.

The reviewer makes one of the following conclusions:

The copies of the reviews are sent to the authors of the article. If the paper has been rejected, the editorial board must give a reasoned refusal to the author(s).

The editorial board keeps reviews for at least five years.

Manuscripts are discussed at the editorial office, and the editor-in-chief makes a final conclusion. The editorial board informs the authors about the decision and the time of the publication.

The journal does not pay royalties and does not charge a fee for publication.
