Abstract
The article covers issues related to the transformation of Belgorod on the occasion of the glorification of the relics of St. Ioasaph. The influence of the press on the process of preparation for the celebrations is noted. As a result of the critical note by the Novoe Vremya correspondent, the provincial and church authorities were forced to check all the stated facts and give a reasoned response to each claim, thereby paying closer attention to the preparation of the celebration. It was necessary to carry out work on the improvement of the city, ensure the safety and comfort of pilgrims, improve the life of the local population, turning the city into a center of pilgrimage.
