The article examines the main social, cultural, and spatialtemporal
components of the image of a 21st-century Latin American metropolis. The capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires, as seen by authors of modern journalistic chronicles, has ceased to be a city with a centralized structure, but has turned into a polycentric model. This city is lined up as a complex territorial and multicultural “mosaic”. The analysis of contradictions within the metropolis leads the authors to a new understanding of the problems of national identity.
