Mass and Elite Cultures as functional systems: on the problem of defining concepts

Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of defining the concepts of mass and elite culture; the purpose of the study is to substantiate the productivity of using a functional approach; the result of the work is the presentation of definitions of these types of culture, the result is the proof of the productivity of this methodology, based not on the analysis of individual phenomena, but their groups, which necessitates the identification of types of culture, largely absorbing the signs all those included in this group of phenomens.
