Comics – a product of American mass culture

Abstract

The review is devoted to the emergence and development of American comics, the factors that contributed to the growth of its popularity and its features as a phenomenon of mass culture. It also substantiates the demand for the image of a superhero in American culture, its dependence on the attitudes of the American national character and its representation in the discourse of popular culture.
