Philology and modernity: Vico, Auerbach and us

Abstract

The article represents the problem of “Philology” in its relations with modernity, through the material of three specific historical situations, namely on the experience of the D. Vico in the eighteenth century, the experience of E. Auerbach in the twentieth century, and on the experience of our “modernity after postmodernity”, in a situation of radical crisis of education and humanitarian-philological activities in the 21st century.
