The article analyzes for the first time from different perspectives the cantata “Yekaterinburg” by Ural authors, poet Arkady Zastyrets and composer Vladimir Kobekin. The article considers the diversity of traditions in the verbal and musical texts of the cantata by V. Kobekin – A. Zastyrets “Yekaterinburg”. The structure and content logic of the work, the specifics and origins of the literary basis, the principles of the textual work of V. Zastyrets are determined. The type of cantata dedicated to the anniversary of Yekaterinburg (1998), the traditions of the genre and the new in its interpretation by V. Kobekin are established. The features of the cantata concept in its connection with the “zeitgeist” are revealed.
