Kierkegaard and Dostoevsky: the experience of reading “Crime and Punishment”

Abstract

The article addresses the typology developed by P.P. Gaidenko in the book “The Tragedy of Aestheticism” based on the analysis of Kierkegaard's writings and uses this typology for the construal of F.M. Dostoevsky’s novel “Crime and Punishment”. The article carried out, in particular, a comparison of pairs of characters Raskolnikov–Sonya, Svidrigailov–Dunya, which clarifies the traditional view of Svidrigailov as Raskolnikov's “doppelganger”.
