The paper attempts to describe relational identity based on the novella by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch “Don Juan of Kolomea”. The novella appears to be a text illustrating one of the author’s private artistic views on the topic of “love.” We consider relational identity as a general term for a heterogeneous field of processes occurring in couple relationships. According to this, in the story of the hero Demetrius, the unfolding narrative forms a relational identity, but its morphology seems to be hidden from the narrator himself: he gets stuck in the idea of romantic falling in love as a mandatory requirement for a partner and refuses to develop himself in relationships and from the development of relationships themselves.
