In the article, the author, relying on a variety of sources, including the results of many years of field work, refers to the poorly covered topic of traditional and not yet completely gone into the past folk
channels of feeding historical collective memory in Sicily, namely, to the work of street singers, storytellers, to the artistic phenomenon of carteddi (wooden, tin, plywood, cardboard billboards, on which non-professional artists describe the events of the past “frame by frame”) and to оpra ri pupi, a street puppet theater that reproduces mainly historical subjects, and also tracks the present of these cultural phenomena.
