Similarity and otherness on the borders of historical memory andoblivion: an example of Spanish medieval epic literature and folklore

Abstract

The article explores the concept of historical memory as asocial construct in relation to its opposite, oblivion. It examines how medieval literature and folklore have been used to create a sense of identity by establishing boundaries between "us" and "them" in the process of social norm formation.
