Popova I.Yu.

Abstract

The paper reviews the novels by the famous British author Graham Swift, focusing on the way he treats memory. His concern with the phenomenon runs throughout his works, his storylines being often enriched by memories. We aim at showing his employment of various types of memory, such as individual and collective, historic and historical, as well as live, cultural and literary – they all interact in his novels. We also consider Swift’s attention to the storage places and custodians of memory.
