Traditional household items in China have a long history and cultural development, ranging from ritual bronzes in the Shang Dynasty to porcelain in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the cultural functions carried by them have never been interrupted. At the heart of everyday objects of different functionality are nature plots that embody the concepts of traditional culture, which are characteristic of China. At the same time, household items are characterized by an obvious commodity and strong cultural affiliation. In this paper, using practical examples and from the point of view shape design, we conducted a comparative analysis of the design philosophy of traditional Chinese household items and modern industrial design and described the influence of traditional material culture and the implementation of its elements in the forms of modern industrial design. The analysis and study of modeling structure, decorative patterns, specific cultural symbols, and other symbolic functions of traditional household items will help us to have a deeper understanding of the inherent characteristics, ideological connotation and spiritual level of Chinese traditional culture, integrate it with the modern human environment and social habits, match it with modern aesthetic thoughts and art forms, and modern new technology, new materials, innovative redesign, endowing it with new vitality and a sense of the times.
