Аверкина С.Н., Лаггайн Б.

Abstract

The article is devoted to the history of monuments to Alexander Pushkin in the GDR and the united Germany. It analyzes the ideological contexts of their creation. Special attention is paid to the first monument to Pushkin in Weimar (the city of Goethe and the cradle of German classics) in the memorable 1949 – when the GDR was formed. It is revealed that the history of the GDR’s development is tightly intertwined with the history of the “Soviet myth” entering the ideosphere of the country. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the erection of monuments to the poet marked the beginning of comprehensive cooperation period, which has been interrupted by the will of history. However, Pushkin’s monuments remain intact, which is due to the deep respect of the German people for the objects of cultural memory.
