Urs Fischer's sculpture “Big Clay N 4”, installed in 2021 in Moscow, is analyzed as a representation of a certain type of modernity and considered within the meaningful cultural oppositions: past – present – future, modern – non-modern, etc. This problematization identifies three types of actual urban modernity and their corresponding objects and works, outlines the possibility of conceptual distinction between backward and avant-garde modernism.
